A slice of heaven

We are staying at our favourite Lake District holiday home for four nights on Derwentwater . It’s still April , it’s unbelievably hot . If I had brought my swimming costume I’d have been in that lake without a doubt . I’m watching the resident swans mating , the Canada geese with their three goslings. . The school parties of young children canoeing noisily past, waving excitedly. I’m trying to read it’s too hot,  I’m trying to paint it’s too hot . So I’m just thinking about the next meal and I am in and out of the house trying to keep cool, splashing water on myself. This really  is not normal for the Lake District in April .
